Mood disorders are illnesses that describe a serious change in mood, it is a mental illness that occurs in the brain. A person with a mood disorder can have a hard time living normally in their everyday life; from feeling hopeless, drowsiness, lack of good energy and low self-esteem. It creates a big impact on a person’s decisions and actions and sometimes can even make them go insane and suicidal. However, some mood disorder are really common and can seek treatment but some can be really rare and hard to cure even with treatment. Some of the major types of mood disorders are depression, anxiety, bipolar, and schizophrenia. The â€Å"The World Health Organization† states that depression is a serious condition but it affects millions of people worldwide (Depression. (2015, October). They claim that depression is one of the most disabling disorders in the world. It affects roughly one in five women and one in ten men, it is estimated that 21% of women and 12% of men in the U.S will experience some sort of depression at some point in their lifetime (Michigan, U. O. (2004) Depression). It is likely a long process to treat or defeat depression depending on the age or the situation of the person with depression, it can vary in the methods of treatment. Some of the major ways of treating depression are medications, social supports from friends and family, interpersonal therapy, or simply having a better sleep pattern. Although all of these sources does not guarantee a treatment for depression, it can dramatically reduce the symptoms of depression. Treating depression requires a strong commitment to oneself of having the ambition to become better and overcome the problems facing depression.
